Across two days in September, Sen. Jeremy Moss welcomed hundreds of seniors to his annual Senior Summits, resource fairs designed to connect Michigan seniors in Senate District 7 with vital services and support.

The events, which were held in Southfield and Pontiac, have been a staple in the district for over a decade. The summits serve as a one-stop shop for seniors seeking information on healthcare, food access, local government support and more. Both days saw a strong turnout, demonstrating the ongoing need for support and resources for Michigan’s senior population.

These summits featured over 30 organizations on-site. Attendees also had the opportunity to participate in free health screenings, including blood pressure checks and vision tests. With hundreds seniors present across both days, the summits provided a unique platform for senior residents to engage directly with community leaders and service providers.

“Seniors are the backbone of our communities, and it’s our responsibility to ensure they can age in place dignity, respect, and financial security,” said Sen. Moss. “My Senior Summits are about more than just offering resources — it’s about publicly demonstrating to our district’s seniors that we value their contributions and will continue to support them with the services they need to live healthy lives.”

Special guest Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel headlined the event’s panel of speakers, addressing key issues affecting Michigan’s aging population, such as elder abuse prevention and consumer protection.

“Raising awareness and educating consumers about common scams is one of my top priorities,” said Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel. “These schemes can be especially harmful to seniors who depend on their hard-earned retirement savings. I want to thank Senator Moss for allowing me to be a part of his Senior Summits. I look forward to continuing our work together to equip seniors with the tools they need to better protect themselves from scammers.”

Alongside Nessel, other notable speakers included Congresswoman Haley Stevens, Southfield Mayor Kenson Siver, Pontiac Mayor Tim Greimel, and State Reps. Jason Hoskins (D-Southfield), Samantha Steckloff (D-Farmington Hills) and Natalie Price (D-Berkley) — all of whom reiterated their commitment to supporting seniors through accessible programs and legal protections.

This year’s summit underscores the importance of continuing to invest in programs that support Michigan’s seniors and ensure they receive the care and respect they deserve.
