March 2014 marked a historic moment—when same-sex couples were able to legally marry in Michigan. Shortly after, a federal appeals court put that ruling on hold, leaving those marriages in legal limbo. In June the following year, the Obergefell v. Hodges ruling made marriage equality the law of the land nationwide.
Michigan Senate Democrats are focused on building on that progress so people can live, love, and build their lives with dignity and a true sense of belonging.
