LANSING, Mich. (Sept. 21, 2021) — Sen. Dayna Polehanki (D-Livonia) issued the following statement after the Michigan Senate today passed the Fiscal Year 2022 budget that totals just under $70 billion in combined state and federal funds, and that includes direct investments for the residents and services provided in the 7th Senate District:
“Home is more than the structure we live in — it’s the people, services, recreation, and businesses that truly make our communities great. The investments included in this budget touch on each of these components and will undoubtedly have a substantial impact on our communities and their residents for years to come, whether they seek recreational opportunities, jobs, or treatment from substance use.
“I am proud of the fiscally responsible budget agreement that was reached and look forward to ensuring more responsible investments of additional, available federal dollars as we continue our work to renew Michigan and recover from the pandemic.”
Some specific investments that will benefit 7th Senate District residents include:
- $500,000 for Goudy Park in Wayne.
- $500,000 for the Michigan International Technology Center landbank reimbursement in Northville/Plymouth Township.
- $500,000 for Growth Works Peer Recovery opioid treatment program, serving Western Wayne County.
- $100,000 for the Livonia Activity Park to increase senior accessibility.
- $50,000 for the Living and Learning Center in Northville Township that provides enrichment for those with autism and developmental disabilities.
