LIVONIA, Mich. (Jan. 27, 2021) — Sen. Dayna Polehanki (D-Livonia) has issued the following statement after Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s State of the State address, in which she spoke about Michigan’s recovery plan for the COVID-19 pandemic:

“As we move forward through this year, addressing the needs of all Michiganders affected by this pandemic must be our top priority for the new legislative session. Whether it’s providing more funding for education and MI Classroom Heroes Grants for educators and support staff, keeping essential workers safe while the state ramps up COVID-19 vaccine distribution efforts, or banning all forms of firearms from being carried in the Michigan State Capitol to keep visitors and staff safe, it’s clear that there are several critical issues that need to be acted upon.

“I look forward to working with Governor Whitmer and my colleagues on both sides of the aisle on these initiatives to keep Michiganders healthy and safe. There’s simply no room for partisan politics and political games when people’s lives and livelihoods are at stake.”
