LANSING, Mich — Sen. Sylvia Santana (D-Detroit) has issued the following statement after 49 people were murdered at mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand.

“My heart goes out to the families in New Zealand who have lost a loved one in the mosque attacks. These acts of terror are stark reminders that there is no room in this world for such senseless acts of violence. We need to continue to come together and foster a sense of unity, progress and understanding in our communities. No matter the distance, all of us need to stand up to hate — in all its forms — and today, the people of Dearborn stand united with our Muslim brothers and sisters on the other side of the world. We share in your pain and we wish you peace.”
