LANSING — Today, Sen. Sylvia Santana (D-Detroit) issued the following statement after she voted no on the K-12 budget on the Senate floor:
“As a parent, my three kids are the most important people in my life. As a mother, it’s imperative to me that they receive the best education our state can provide. However, watching decades of underinvestment — like the budget that was on the floor today — will only leave our state continuing to fall further behind the rest of the country. I’m disappointed that some of my colleagues are not prioritizing the needs of our teachers and our children, but remain hopeful that we can find some way to work together and change this trend.”
