LANSING, Mich. (Jan. 24, 2024) — Sen. Sylvia Santana (D-Detroit) issued the following statement on Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s 2024 State of the State address and her proposal to establish a caregiver tax credit:

“All Michigan families are feeling the pinch of increased costs right now, but that is especially true for people who are caring for a child, spouse, aging parent or other relative with a mental or physical disability. These workers are putting their time, energy and money to ensure their loved ones have the best care possible and are able to stay close to one another. I look forward to working with the governor and my colleagues in the Legislature on ways we can help acknowledge the sacrifices these Michiganders are making and their commitment to their families, and reduce the challenges they are facing.”
