LANSING — Today, Sen. Sylvia Santana (D-Detroit) welcomed 31 people from Dearborn, Detroit and Melvindale to Lansing, where they toured the Capitol Building and discussed consumer protections, school aid funding, and health and human services issues.
“I’m so proud to have had an opportunity to speak with such an energized group of my constituents who came to Lansing to make a difference,” Sen. Santana said. “It’s important to me that they know the power of their voice and can see it in action because every single one of them are simply looking to provide a better life for themselves and their families. I’m honored to represent them in the Senate and work alongside them on the issues that matter to the residents of the 3rd Senate District.”
Sen. Santana represents the 3rd Senate District that includes Dearborn, Melvindale and a portion of Detroit. Last week, on Oct. 8, she hosted a group of 51 Detroit residents for a similar Community Day at the Capitol experience.
