Today I voted against SB1179 reflects as I have a true desire to ensure that the program's original intent—to support affordable healthcare for underserved communities—is upheld.

The misuse of funds to build facilities in more affluent areas instead of where they are most needed is indeed troubling. Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) play a crucial role in serving poorer communities, and it's important that they continue to receive adequate funding and report their metrics to the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA).

Pushing such significant legislation during a lame-duck session can be problematic, as it may not allow for thorough debate and consideration. Transparency and accountability from both the pharmacy industry and hospitals are essential to ensure that savings are passed on to those who need them most.
