BROOKLYN, MI (April 30, 2026) — Yesterday evening, Sen. Sue Shink (D-Northfield Twp.) hosted a Community Conversation event at the Choate Marketplace in Brooklyn. This event allowed local residents to meet with the Senator and team, as well as Rep. Carrie  Rheingans (D-Ann Arbor), and learn about current legislation, and ask questions and offer suggestions they had surrounding matters of our community and state.

“Having open conversations with our neighbors is essential to doing good work in Lansing,” said Sen. Shink. “I am always excited to see people come engaged and ready to learn more about the budget and legislative process. At the same time, I’m grateful to hear directly about what issues matter most to our communities and what work needs to be done to make that progress happen.”

During the event, Sen. Shink provided updates on the 2027 state budget she’s advancing at the Capitol, and underscored the need to protect Michigan’s natural resources, address skyrocketing utility rates, and invest in programming to help Michigan small businesses thrive.

For more information about upcoming events, visit Sen. Shink’s Facebook page. If you need help with state services or want to share your thoughts, questions, or concerns about legislation, you can reach Sen. Shink’s office by calling (517) 373-2426 or emailing SenSShink@senate.michigan.gov.

Sen. Shink is proud to serve Michigan’s 14th Senate District, which includes parts of Ann Arbor and all of Dexter, Chelsea, and Jackson City, among many townships.
