That\u2019s why I\u2019ve been focused on lowering costs in all aspects of everyday life for Michigan seniors by:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Repealing the unfair retirement tax, saving nearly 500,000 seniors $1,000 every year.<\/li>\n<li>Establishing a Prescription Drug Affordability Board to rein in the rising cost of medications.<\/li>\n<li>Investing in affordable housing projects for veterans and seniors.<\/li>\n<li>Enhancing support for food assistance programs, like SNAP and Double-Up Food Bucks.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Fighting Abuse &amp; Exploitation<\/h3>\n<p>To reduce the growing incidence of elder abuse and exploitation, I recently voted to pass legislation that would better prevent, detect, and prosecute all forms of elder abuse by:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Enhancing protections for vulnerable adults.<\/li>\n<li>Enhancing protections for vulnerable adults.<\/li>\n<li>Increasing support services for vulnerable adults.<\/li>\n<\/ul>[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][et_pb_column _builder_version=&#8221;4.27.3&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; type=&#8221;1_2&#8243; theme_builder_area=&#8221;post_content&#8221;][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;4.27.3&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; theme_builder_area=&#8221;post_content&#8221; hover_enabled=&#8221;0&#8243; sticky_enabled=&#8221;0&#8243;]<h3>Meals on Wheels<\/h3>\n<p>\u00a0We deserve every opportunity to age safely at home.
