LANSING, Mich. (March 19, 2024) — Sen. Sam Singh (D-East Lansing) issued the following statement on the Michigan Senate’s passage today of his legislation, Senate Bills 579, 580 and 581, to create and invest in the High-wage Incentive for Regional Employment (HIRE) in Michigan Program. The program will support small businesses and spur growth in new industries while generating new, good-paying jobs.

“Our state’s economic resilience forms the bedrock of Michigan, driving growth and prosperity for residents across the state,” said Sen. Singh. “The HIRE program is tailored to meet the needs of businesses, big and small. With this legislation, we are continuing to build on our efforts to create a robust and diverse business landscape. Coupled with extensive resources dedicated for training and education opportunities, the HIRE Program will empower Michigan’s workforce through high-paying jobs.”
