Lowering the Cost of Parenting — Senate Bills 308313

Senate Democrats have officially introduced bills to implement the recently-unveiled “Building Blocks” plan that seeks to provide economic relief for Michigan parents. This legislative package would support parents by establishing a new Working Parents Tax Credit, expanding the widely popular RxKids program statewide, and helping tackle the cost of child care from both the demand and supply side.

Ensuring Justice for Survivors of Sexual Assault — Senate Bills 257261

The Senate passed legislation to support and protect survivors of sexual assault while ensuring abusers — and the institutions that shield them — are held accountable. Michigan Senate Advances Bold New Education Budget Proposal Focused on Putting Students and Teachers First

As part of the several budget bills the Senate recently passed, a record PreK-12 education budget proposal also made it across the Senate finish line. This legislation intentionally prioritizes Michigan students, invests in safe and healthy learning environments, and strengthens public schools.

With federal funding for education facing unprecedented uncertainty, Senate Democrats stepped up to deliver a bold, future-focused plan for the Fiscal Year 2026 budget. In addition to raising per-pupil funding to $10,008, the proposal includes $2.5 billion in investments for student mental health, critical upgrades to school infrastructure — including clean and functional HVAC systems — and a continued commitment to free breakfast and lunch for every Michigan public school student.

Team District Walk

We knocked on over 500 doors and asked folks about the issues they care most about, whether it was help with a state agency, ideas for legislation, or local concerns they wanted to share with our office.

My team and I hit the pavement in DeWitt last week to hear directly from constituents. We knocked on over 500 doors and asked folks about the issues they care most about, whether it was help with a state agency, ideas for legislation, or local concerns they wanted to share with our office. We’re always grateful for the chance to connect with our community face-to-face.
