WARREN, Mich. (Jan. 26,2022) – Sen. Paul Wojno (D-Warren) has issued the following statement on Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s State address tonight that included legislation in the Senate that would eliminate the retirement tax:
“Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s proposal to eliminate the retirement tax is a shared goal. I introduced Senate Bill 3, that seeks to repeal this unnecessary tax burden. This issue has been important to me, as I know it is for many residents of Macomb and across our state. I remain committed to working with my legislative colleagues and the governor’s administration as we create a Michigan that is welcoming to people of all ages.
“Making Michigan an ‘age-friendly’ state should be a major priority of ours as we move forward into 2022. After spending their lives providing for their families and giving back to their communities, Michigan’s seniors deserve access to quality health care, affordable housing, and to live their golden years with economic stability.”
