DETROIT, Mich. (September 15, 2023) — In response to UAW auto workers declaring a strike after failing to reach an agreement before their contracts with General Motors, Ford Motor Company and Stellantis expired last night at midnight, State Senator Paul Wojno (D-Warren) issued the following statement:

“As a State Senator, I stand with our UAW brothers and sisters, wholeheartedly supporting their efforts to secure a contract that recognizes their dedication and contributions to the auto industry,” said Sen. Wojno. “Over the last decade, UAW workers have demonstrated remarkable resilience and played a significant role in the Big Three automakers’ record profits. Workers have the right to exercise their voices as they strike and advocate for fair compensation and benefits.”

Sen. Wojno is the son of UAW members, and the district he represents has one of the highest concentrations of union labor in the state.
