LANSING — Sen. Paul Wojno (D–Warren) has issued the following statement after being named by Attorney General Dana Nessel to her newly created Elder Abuse Task Force. Sen. Wojno joins Sen. Peter Lucido (R–Shelby Township), Michigan Supreme Court Justices Richard Bernstein and Megan Cavanagh, Lt. Governor Garlin Gilchrist and more than 30 other officials across numerous organizations who are part of the task force.
“It’s an honor to be chosen by the Attorney General to be a part of the Elder Abuse Task Force. More than 73,000 Michigan seniors are victims of elder abuse, and it’s time we got to the bottom of it. Elder abuse is underreported and often unrecognized, and that’s the tragedy we’re trying to fight. Elder Michiganders deserve to see justice when someone goes to great lengths to cause physical, emotional or financial abuse to someone.”
