LANSING — Sens. Paul Wojno (D-Warren) and Peter Lucido (R-Shelby Township) helped celebrate the 40th anniversary of Nino Salvaggio International Market — a Macomb County staple that offers fresh, locally grown produce and international cuisine — recently with a legislative tribute of recognition, signed by both senators as well as Lieutenant Governor Garlin Gilchrist II and Governor Gretchen Whitmer.
“Nino’s has provided incredible food, customer service and a unique shopping experience for customers across Macomb County, and recently, Oakland County as well,” Sen. Wojno said. “Their commitment to sustainability through local growers and honoring their family’s international heritage means they have had a substantial impact to many.”
The Special Tribute commended Nino’s for their expansion and dedication over the years, and their significant contributions to Michigan’s communities, counties and state. To date, Nino’s has donated nearly $1 million dollars to local charities through the Nino Salvaggio Charitable Foundation for Children in Need to help children who are sick, disabled, impoverished or need other support for their well-being.
“Nino’s story truly is the stuff of small business owner dreams,” Sen. Lucido said. “I am so proud of them, their families and employees, and wish them all the best for the next 40 years.”
