School-Community Health Alliance of Michigan honors Sen. Anthony with Legislative Award

LANSING, Mich. (March 4, 2025) — Today, Sen. Sarah Anthony (D-Lansing) received the School-Community Health Alliance of Michigan’s (SCHA-MI) Legislative Award in recognition of her efforts to fight for and protect vital funding that supports Michigan students.

As lead budget negotiator for the Michigan Senate, Sen. Anthony has been instrumental in securing investments that provide comprehensive support to kids and classrooms around the state, from ensuring students don’t learn on an empty stomach with the free school meals program to helping youth access the care they need at school-based health centers. Following the presentation of her award this morning, Sen. Anthony released the following statement:

“I am truly honored to receive the Legislative Award from the School-Community Health Alliance of Michigan, just as I am honored to serve and protect our students every day in the Michigan Senate. From day one, I’ve been unwavering in my commitment to fight for and deliver on what our students need to succeed both in and out of the classroom — universal school meals, quality before- and after-school programs, comprehensive physical and mental health care services, and so much more.

“While I am proud of the investments my colleagues and I have secured for our students and schools around the state, we have a lot more work ahead of us. I look forward to continuing to partner with our network of dedicated community groups and advocates who are doing the important work on the ground, such as SCHA-MI, and am excited to see what we will accomplish together to ensure our students can enjoy the futures they want and deserve.”
