LANSING, Mich. (Oct. 7, 2024) — Sen. Rosemary Bayer (D-West Bloomfield) issued the following statement in response to antisemitic materials found in numerous household lawns in West Bloomfield Township and Farmington Hills this past weekend:
“From West Bloomfield to Plymouth and everywhere in between — here in District 13, we look out for one another. Across differences of race and place, neighbors in our communities lift each other up. I know this to represent the true spirit of my constituents, Michiganders, and Americans who seek to uphold the very best values of our country.
“That’s why it’s so utterly disturbing to hear the news of numerous residents in Farmington Hills and in my home of West Bloomfield waking up this past weekend to find anti-Jewish materials tossed on their front yards. These efforts attempting to intimidate and disparage our Jewish neighbors cause real harm and are in no way acceptable. I stand firmly alongside fellow District 13 residents in condemning these incidents and all forms of hateful behavior in our communities. This goes against everything we stand for and aspire to be.
“Now more than ever, we must rise above divisiveness at our doorstep, uniting together across our differences and recognizing that the strongest future we can have is a future that we build towards together.”
