The Great Lakes Water Authority (GLWA) has lifted the Boil Water Advisory in Walled Lake and Novi! Some helpful tips regarding actions to take after a boil water advisory has been lifted:
• Flush Cold Water Pipes: Turn on all cold water faucets slowly and run them for at least 5 minutes to clear potential contaminants from your plumbing.
• Flush Hot Water Pipes: Run hot water faucets until the water runs cool to flush the hot water tank. For a 40-gallon tank, run for at least 15 minutes; for larger tanks, run for 30 minutes.
• Clean and Replace Filters: Replace water filters on refrigerators, faucet attachments, and pitcher filters.
• Clean Aerators: Remove and clean screens/aerators on all faucets.
• Ice Makers & Appliances: Empty the ice bin completely and throw away the first two cycles of ice produced. Run dishwashers through a full, hot/sanitize cycle.
• Devices: Flush any water-using devices, such as water softeners or humidifiers.
