Today is Human Trafficking Awareness Day - a day to stand united in solidarity against one of the world's most severe violations of human rights. The impact of human trafficking is devastating; if you suspect that someone may be a victim, trust your instincts and report it. To learn more about signs of human trafficking and how to report it, visit: www.dhs.gov/blue-campaign/report-human-trafficking.
Recently, Governor Whitmer signed Senate Bills 515–517 into law. These bills aim to combat human trafficking and bring justice to survivors of sexual assault. While this is a huge win for Michigan, we must continue to educate ourselves about the issue, support organizations working on the front lines, and advocate for the wellbeing of survivors.
