Dear Neighbor,

From my family to yours, I’d like to wish you the happiest of holidays. I hope you have some time to take a stroll downtown to enjoy the beautiful decorations throughout Senate District 13, share laughter with family and friends, and enjoy all the fun our Michigan winters have to offer.

That being said, I have to acknowledge that it’s been a tough year. From rising costs that have many of us making do with less, to devastating decisions from our federal government that have upended life as we knew it — ‘tough’ might be an understatement. In the face of these challenges, the people of our district demonstrated their strength and resilience through their generosity and kindness. When SNAP benefits were paused due to the federal government shutdown and uncertainty abounded, our friends and neighbors — perhaps even you! — stood up to make their voices heard and help our community stand strong. Similarly, in my coffee hours around the community, I had the chance to talk to so many of you about the issues that are impacting your neighborhoods — issues that extend beyond just you and your family. It’s impressive to see such civic-mindedness these days, and it’s a privilege to have these important conversations with you.

There is so much beauty in the diverse communities I represent. Thank you for inviting me to the wonderful festivities around the district this year, where I enjoyed countless celebrations that showcase our kind, generous, and colorful community. I get the same warm feeling when I stop by some of the many small businesses in our district this time of year. There’s a certain magic in seeing people light up when they find the perfect gift for a loved one, or hearing someone call out “Thanks! Happy Holidays!” on their way out of a store. You can tell there’s true care for one another here.

I look forward to my last year as your State Senator. Thank you for entrusting me with this opportunity.

As always, if you need assistance of any sort, or have any questions or concerns you’d like to share, please feel free to reach out to my office. You can reach me and my team by calling (517) 373-2417 or emailing SenRBayer@senate.michigan.gov.

Sincerely,

Senator Bayer Signature

Expanding Opportunity, Lowering Costs, & Protecting Michigan: Senate Democrats Reflect on Progress From 2025

As we wrap up 2025 and are just days away from the start of the new year, I’d like to take a moment to reflect on the progress we’ve delivered for the people of Michigan over the course of the last 12 months. Together, my Senate Democratic colleagues and I:

I’m proud of the work we’ve accomplished this year, despite the many obstacles and unprecedented setbacks we faced at both the state and federal levels of government, and I’m looking forward to another productive year advocating for our communities and our state. I also encourage you to stay informed about the legislation we’re working on and that will be moving through the Senate in the weeks ahead, which you track online here.

Community Connections Senator Bayer

This year brought us together at so many different events throughout Senate District 13. From the Farmington Hills and West Bloomfield libraries to Novi City Hall – and several other locations! – I sincerely appreciated connecting with numerous friends, constituents, and colleagues. Please enjoy the photos below, which capture some of these great moments out and about in our community.
