LANSING, Mich. (Feb. 25, 2026) — Senate Majority Leader Winnie Brinks (D-Grand Rapids) has issued the following statement in response to Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s 2026 State of the State address this evening:

“From protecting health care to fighting corruption to putting dollars back in Michiganders’ pockets, we have and will continue to deliver on our goals of greater affordability, accountability, and overall prosperity for the people of Michigan by working together. Let’s have a productive year and stay focused on our shared mission: giving our kids the best chance at a successful future by improving literacy, helping more folks attain housing that fits their needs, and making health care affordable and accessible for all Michiganders. In doing so, we can show residents what good, accountable government looks like.”
