Over $70 million in targeted investments in infrastructure, education, lead service line replacement, and workforce development are highlights of the 2023 state budget for Downriver and Western Wayne County

LANSING, Mich. (June 29, 2023) — Following the passage of the state budget through both the House and Senate last night, State Senator Darrin Camilleri announced it will include over $70 million in targeted investments for the fourth State Senate district, which includes the majority of Downriver and parts of Western Wayne County.

“I’m proud to announce that we’ve secured over $70 million in historic investments right here in our district. This funding will allow us to make serious progress on key infrastructure issues that have plagued our communities for decades, while also investing in workforce development and finally removing many of the lead service lines that continue to pose a threat to our communities.” Camilleri said. “This budget is a huge milestone, but it also serves as a reminder of the scope of the problems that we face here in Michigan. We have much more work to do in the years ahead, we’re just getting started.”

Individual items included within the $70 million in targeted investments will be highlighted over the coming weeks.
