Community Updates

Earlier this week, I was proud to be joined by State Rep. Reggie Miller, as well as representatives from Wayne County and Van Buren Township — we presented the community with a check for $11.8 million towards Denton Road maintenance and the completion of the Iron Belle Trail that we were able to secure in this year’s state budget. Since taking office, I have heard from many neighbors in Belleville and Van Buren about how frustrating this bridge closure is, and I’m thrilled that we were able to get this appropriation across the finish line and bring relief to Western Wayne.

Legislative Updates

In our last e-newsletter, I shared that I had recently introduced legislation to establish a nonpartisan Prescription Drug Affordability Board here in Michigan. I’m proud to say these bills passed the Senate and are now on their way to the House of Representatives.

We believe no one should have to choose between affording food and the medication they need, and we’ve heard countless stories about the rising cost of prescription drugs since we first introduced this legislation.

With yesterday’s passage through the Senate, we’re one critical step closer to establishing a Prescription Drug Affordability Board and ensuring equitable access to vital medications for every Michigander.

I hope that these updates were insightful and informative as we continue our work in Lansing on your behalf. Again, if you have any questions, comments, or concerns please do not hesitate to contact my office here or give us a call at 517-373-7918.
