DETROIT, Mich. (Feb. 10, 2026) — Following Donald Trump’s threats to block the Gordie Howe Bridge from opening, Sen. Darrin Camilleri (D-Trenton) released the following statement:

“This isn’t strength. It isn’t savvy negotiating. It’s using Michigan workers and our state’s economy as pawns in a classic Trump tantrum.

“Last time he was in Michigan, he gave autoworkers the finger. That wasn’t just his reaction to being confronted about failing to release the Epstein files. Apparently, it was him summarizing his entire economic plan for Michigan workers.

“I look forward to us opening this bridge as another connection across the busiest trade corridor in North America.”
