LANSING, Mich. (Feb. 25, 2025) — Sen. Darrin Camilleri (D-Trenton) issued the following statement in response to Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s final “State of the State” address tonight, where she laid out priorities for her last year in office:
“Michigan residents are facing an affordability crisis that our federal administration does not seem to care about addressing, and it falls on us as state leaders to enact policies that will help drive down the costs of health care, housing, child care, and everyday goods. The governor’s address tonight shows that in these next ten months, we can keep doing what we have the last seven years — find real solutions to the problems that matter most to our neighbors.
“Michigan is continuing to face challenges that will require a bold response from lawmakers in the Capitol. We have an opportunity in front of us to deliver real results for our residents across the state. I’m excited to further our work and continue to provide historic investments in our public schools, while also putting more money back into the pockets of working families.”
