DETROIT, Mich. (Feb. 11, 2022) — Sen. Stephanie Chang (D-Detroit) issued the following statement in response to a Canadian judge ordering protestors at the Ambassador Bridge over the U.S.-Canadian border to end a weeklong blockade:
“I am very glad that the Ontario Superior Court Judge has granted an injunction to put an end to the protest at the Ambassador Bridge. The protestors’ actions have endangered our economy and the economic security of American and Canadian families and impacted the quality of life for residents in Windsor and Detroit. This week of madness must be a reminder to us all about the importance of our international border crossings and how intertwined our existence is. This week I have communicated with state agencies and government officials in Canada, as well as residents in my district who live close to the bridge, about our concerns, and I will continue to monitor the situation closely.”
