Investing in Natural Resources
Protecting Outdoor Recreation for the Next Generations
The DNR manages Michigan’s natural resources, but inflation and declining outdoor participation threaten its funding and mission — putting habitats, fisheries, and other vital assets at risk. I’ve introduced bipartisan legislation to revamp and renew funding for Michigan’s outdoor recreation and natural resources.
Highlights of Senate Bills 276-277 include:
- 60% youth discount, while keeping the senior discount
- Dedicated funding for hunter and angler education and recruitment, to maintain our outdoor heritage
- Modest increases in license prices
- 75% reduction in antlerless deer license cost
- Earn-a-second-buck opportunity
These bills ensure future generations can enjoy Michigan’s outdoor heritage, just as I have as a lifelong sportsman. For more information on the legislation, visit my website at SenatorCherry.com/hunt-and-hook.
