LANSING, Mich. (Oct. 5, 2021) — Today, Sen. Erika Geiss (D-Taylor) issued the following statement after proudly welcoming the Little League World Series Championship team, Taylor North, to the Michigan Senate to recognize their hard work and achievements this past season:

“This team has filled our community and state with such a bright light during difficult times, and it was an honor to welcome them to the State Capitol today. These are players who gave it their all, showed the world their character, and who represented Taylor to the best of their abilities. I know they will go on to do great things and I hope they know how much they have inspired other young baseball players to keep chasing their dreams. I look forward to following their future success and congratulate them on such an incredible, well-deserved achievement, and I sincerely thank every single person who supported them along the way for their steadfast dedication and commitment.”

Taylor North is the first Michigan team to win the 2021 Little League Baseball World Series championship since Hamtramck did so in 1959. They were also the first Downriver-area team to ever compete in the World Series.
