LANSING, Mich. (May 21, 2026) — Today, Sen. Chedrick Greene (D-Saginaw) was officially sworn in to the Michigan Senate. Following his resounding victory in a special election earlier this month, he will represent the 35th Senate District, which includes portions of Saginaw, Bay, and Midland counties.
“It is truly an honor to represent the people of Saginaw, Bay, and Midland counties in the state Senate,” said Sen. Greene. “As a Marine and a firefighter, I have built my life around service to my country and my community. My commitment to helping others drove me to pursue elected office, and I am excited to take that to the next level.”
Sen. Greene is a lifelong resident of Saginaw and has been a firefighter and Marine for three decades. He will hit the ground running in the state Senate, working to finalize a state budget that prioritizes increased public safety funding and free school meals, lower housing, grocery, and healthcare costs, and stand up for Michigan’s veterans.
“I am heading to Lansing to represent all three counties and people of all political parties equally and will keep a constant connection between the Capitol and the district,” Sen. Greene said. “I appreciate the trust the people I serve have put in me, and I can’t wait to get to work on their behalf, tackling the urgent issues people are facing right now.”
