DEXTER, MI (Feb. 20, 2026) — Yesterday, Sen. Sue Shink (D-Northfield Twp.) hosted a Community Conversation at the Dexter District Library. This event allowed local residents to engage with the Senator, learn about current legislation, and ask any questions they had surrounding our community and state.
“I am always thankful for the community members who take their time to talk with me,” said Sen. Shink. “Understanding what our community needs and wants requires conversation and connection — spending time with our neighbors and hearing firsthand about concerns. That time with constituents gives me energy and directly influences the policies I focus on at the Capitol.”
During the event, Sen. Shink provided insight into the legislation she’s working on in Lansing, including her work to slow cost increases and increase energy efficiency through virtual power plants, address high utility costs, and protect Michigan’s natural resources. She also listened to constituents with concerns surrounding forever chemicals and safe, fair election procedures ahead of the midterm elections.
For more information about upcoming events, visit Sen. Shink’s Facebook page. If you need help with state services or want to share your opinions, questions, or concerns about legislation, you can reach Sen. Shink’s office by calling (517) 373-2426 or emailing SenSShink@senate.michigan.gov.
Sen. Shink is proud to serve Michigan’s 14th Senate District, which includes parts of Ann Arbor and all of Dexter, Chelsea, and Jackson City, among many townships.
