LANSING, Mich. (Feb. 25, 2026) — Sen. Sue Shink (D-Northfield Twp.) issued the following statement in response to Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s “State of the State” address tonight:

“I’m happy to see Gov. Whitmer focus on saving Michiganders money and boosting education funding in the months ahead. Michiganders work hard. I want to do everything I can to support them from birth through college or trade school and into retirement. Assistance for new moms and babies, securing record school funding for our kids, and offering free community college are crucial to ensuring that hardworking Michigan families can thrive.”
