Michigan has a long, proud history of successful refugee resettlement. We should continue making room in our communities for people fleeing from violence and poverty because it's the right thing to do and because it's the smart thing to do.
This piece lays out some of the economic development benefits of refugee resettlement. Refugees not only enrich all of our lives culturally, they also make Mic ... See MoreSee Less

One key to improving Michigan’s sagging population is immigrants, and the state stands to lose more than $70 million in tax revenues over the next 10 years from the president’s decree.1 CommentComment on Facebook
We need to get rid of all these illegal immigrants that have been placed near my home. When I go to Wal-Mart and Meijer now, there are people speaking in foreign languages and they have LOUD SPEAKERS in the parking lots with foreign versions of rock-n-roll. They stay until the police show up, and then they are scared off. Thankfully, Donald J. Trump make "English" the Official Language of America. And thankfully, Donald Trump is taking all those illegal immigrants out of America. Biden thought he was bringing in millions of liberal votes. Trump is getting rid of those illegal immigrants. I'm very glad Governor Whitmer ended her chances of becoming President by intentionally hiding her face while visiting Trump in the Oval Office. When Whitmer runs for President, there will be TV ads saying, "This woman hiding herself from the public is the same woman who refused to keep her campaign promise to sign the bill to improve Michigan's Freedom of Information Act so the Governor and Legislature are no longer 'immune' to the FOIA." The TV ad will zoom in on Whitmer's face being hidden behind those documents. The TV ad will say, "Whitmer wants the public kept in the dark, so they can't see what Whitmer is really like." And that is true. ... Governor Gretchen Whitmer should have signed that bill to improve the FOIA. Broken campaign promise. Michigan remains one of two states in the nation where the Governor and Legislature are immune to the FOIA - just like Whitmer and Mike Shirkey want it. Trump publicly said many times, "Michigan Senator Mike Shirkey is a RINO disgrace to the GOP."

Keep up the excellent work, Jeff Irwin. I always remember how that greedy John Engler literally cut so many assistance programs when I was in school that other kids could no longer eat lunch. My mom would literally send extra sandwiches and subs for other people at lunch and when there were track meets after school. Governor Gretchen Whitmer set it up so kids could eat lunch AND breakfast! That is the way it should be. Toodumb Dixon lost my vote the moment I kept seeing her hug John Engler all the time. And Jeff, you should really hear the story I have for you about what a backstabber Tudor is to Congresswoman Lisa McClain. Tudor selected Shane Hernandez as her Lieutenant after Shane had told all those lies about Lisa McClain while both of them ran for Congress. Lisa was the person who set it up so Tudor was the one and only Republican Governor candidate Trump invited onto the Mar-a-Lago stage. This meant only Tudor Dixon was "Introduced" by Trump. Tudor then used that "Introduction" in a deceptive commercial to make it seem as though Trump "Endorsed" her. That was when Tudor jumped from the bottom of the list to the top and won the Primary. If you get the chance, please send me a private message. I never see the messages telling me you respond on here.
Trump pushes through an enormous tax increase and Republicans in Congress are asleep at the wheel.
This tax increase will hit the average US family with an additional $3,500 per year in new taxes.

I find it hard not to guess that he will try to have the pain much reduced by midterms. We shall see, I guess. All we need is one more shock and we could be in for some real darkness.
I worried we're seeing a master plan being started by this. He used the claim of a national emergency to push through these tariffs. If we're under federal emergency mode, there are a *lot* of things he has legal power to do that cut off all oversight and checks and balances. Things might be getting real scary real quick...
