Michigan residents would benefit from greater access to healthcare and lower costs by allowing nurse practitioners to serve patients without having to pay for a supervision contract.
Right now, NP's pay thousands of dollars every month to an MD who is often off-site and never sees the patient. Some contracts even make the NP pay extra if they have any questions or if they want that off-site supervisor to do anything but sign off.
Why are Michigan residents paying for this and why are we pushing qualified Nurse Practitioners to other states which don't require this extra payment and paperwork for supervision?
