Investing where it counts in Eaton County

Dear Neighbor,

Every Michigander deserves access to opportunity — strong schools, affordable health care, safe communities, and an economy that supports working families. As the cost of living continues to rise, it’s more important than ever that your elected officials stay focused on investments that make life easier and deliver opportunity for hardworking Michiganders — especially right here in Eaton County.

As the Senate Appropriations Chair, the lead budget negotiator for the Senate, I’m committed to crafting a state budget that reflects these priorities:

Investing Where it Counts in Eaton County

As your state Senator, I’ve focused on creating budgets that benefit everyday people and build new opportunities across the state. In my role as Senate Appropriations Chair, I’ve secured significant investments that are already making a difference in our own backyard. Here are just a few from previous budgets I’m excited to share:

Building a New Space for Teens in Eaton Rapids

To help give our teens hands-on learning experiences and a place to build everyday life skills and a sense of community, I secured $3 million in our state budget toward building the new Eaton Rapids Teen Space. This center will serve as a welcoming place for teens in the community and will help set them up for success.

Creating a community center for all ages

Creating a Community Center for All Ages

We know that our community is strongest when we work together. That’s why I helped secure $10 million to support the creation of a multi-generational community center that will bring together some of Eaton County’s youngest and most senior residents. This innovative facility will house early childhood education programming, while also serving as a hub for senior citizen programs and activities. I can’t wait to see this exciting project come to fruition in 2026.

Upgrading Water Infrastructure to Help Ease

Rising Costs for Grand Ledge Residents The City of Grand Ledge is upgrading its water infrastructure to ensure safer, more reliable service for everyone. I secured $5 million in state funding to help cover the costs of these much-needed local infrastructure improvements and helpavoid additional costs being passed on to residents.
