LANSING, Mich. (Jan. 11, 2022) — Sen. Veronica Klinefelt (D–Eastpointe) has issued the following statement after being sworn into office to serve in the 102nd Michigan Legislature:
“I’m honored and excited to have the opportunity to fight for what matters most for the residents of my community and across the state,” said Sen. Klinefelt. “I look forward to working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to produce meaningful results for Michiganders.”
Sen. Klinefelt has extensive experience serving her community as an elected official, including six years on the Eastpointe Community School Board, eight years on the Eastpointe City Council and a decade serving on the Macomb County Board of Commissioners. During her time as County Commissioner, Sen. Klinefelt fought for a strong community mental health system, a comprehensive veterans’ services department, and an updated 911 system.
